MOREL MUSHROOMS with KIMBERLI, Class II
| « Back to calendar | « Previous Event | Next Event » |
Eastern Iowa
Many of you have asked questions about morels -- how to find them, when to look, how to cook them -- so this is a hands on workshop & hunt to teach you those very things. If the season is cooperative, we should each go home with some morels for supper!
THE CLASS/HUNT: Learn where to look, what kinds of soil and trees morels favor, how to identify a false morel, how to judge (using other plants as indicators) when the morels are popping, different types of edible morels, best way to clean, store and various ways of cooking and preserving.
TRANSPORTATION: We will be meeting and carpooling to a spot on private land that is good for morels. I can take up to four people in my vehicle.
WHAT TO BRING: Rain gear (a cheap poncho is fine), shoes you can get muddy, a sack lunch or snacks if desired, drinking water and a mesh bag of some sort to collect mushrooms. If you do not have a mesh bag, I have a few that I can share but please no plastic.
COST: Is $20 per person with a limit of 6 participants.
REGISTRATION: Please reserve your spot by emailing FlyingMonkeysCR@aol.com or calling 319-270-0975
PAYMENT: Advanced payment may be mailed (personal checks are fine) or sent via PayPal to FlyingMonkeysCR@aol.com , cash only please the day of the foray.
